Brotherhood of the Edge

Welcome to Brotherhood of the Edge!
Short instruction page

Wondering how to get started, players? Here are a few tips:

1. Create your PC

Follow the link above to the Characters section, where you can upload your character! When you add your character, fill out the following sections like so.

  • Character Name – put in your character’s name
  • Slug – The slug is actually the URL for your character’s page! Whatever you fill in for the slug, you can then access your character at
  • Quick Description – just what it says, it appears like a subtitle to the title of the name
  • Description – Put in the description of your character! I add some instructions in the test character, but be sure to include
    • Obligation(s)
    • Motivation(s)
    • Wound and Strain Thresholds
    • Soak and Defense values
    • Primary weapon
  • Biography – Back story section!

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

2. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where we’ll list the sessions and adventures the party has been on, but for now, we just need a very light “story so far” post and a “how the group was formed” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

I can create the “story so far” post, but you (players) will need to work together on how you know each other (even if it’s just no one knows each other at all!).

Back Story
The Heroes Come Together

Having his freedom for only a short few months, Nat found himself on Tatooine tracking down a bounty in the hopes of making enough money to feed himself. He had been on the target’s trail for several weeks, but he finally managed to pin down the location. He tracked his target to a local bar. Inside the bar was a doctor sitting down, drinking away the dreadful memories he had, an ex-noblemen, looking through messages he had received from his sister, and his target. Nat silently snuck up behind the target, ready to strike him. Before he could deliver a fatal blow, his target spoke saying, “You think you are here for me, but it is I who is here for you.” All of a sudden, Nat found himself surrounded by five stormtroopers. Nat realized he could not do anything, and he dropped his weapon in surrender. Nat’s target then said “I know what you are. A pathetic little slave who killed his master because he could not handle a little work. You will see justice soon enough.” Nat’s target got up to lead the stormtroopers and Nat away when a glass bottle was shattered against the head of a stormtroopers. Next, Nat heard the cry from a drunken man, screaming “YOU BASTERDS TOOK MY PARENTS FROM ME!!! NOW DIE!!!” Nat realized that this was from the doctor sitting at the bar. The stormtroopers were caught off guard by this outburst, and were equally stunned by the chair that the doctor had thrown at them. Nat took this opportunity to get out of their clutches, and he ran for his weapon. The stormtroopers began to open fire, and the doctor, tried to duck for cover. Unfortunately, he was too drunk and he fell on his face. Luckily, the ex-nobleman saw what was going on and kicked his table down and rolled it in front of the fallen doctor. The nobleman then dived into the cover he created. As he turned around, he saw Nat going for his weapon with the two stormtroopers aimed at him. The ex-nobleman pulled out his blaster pistol and began to fire at the stormtroopers to give Nat some cover. The doctor had pulled out his pistol as well, but he could not fire very well. Nat managed to get his weapon and make it over to where they were. The situation was not well, and they knew that they needed to do something or they were all dead. Then Nat saw a back door to the bar, and he remembered the grenade that he bought earlier. Nat pulled out his grenade and though it over the cover they were using. Nat then yelled “RUN FOR THE DOOR!!” All three took off running. The grenade went off, and three stormtroopers fell. Two were disoriented, but they still managed to get off a few shots. Nat and the nobleman were his square in the back. Despite being drunk, the doctor managed to drag both of them outside. The ex-nobleman said, “My… speeder…. out in…. front…” the doctor then ran for the speeder, but he could see stormtroopers inside radioing for reinforcements. The doctor jumped in and drove the speeder around to pick up Nat and the ex-nobleman. The doctor then took off. He was swerving everywhere because of the alcohol, and he eventually crashed into a stand just inside of town. Nat then spoke up saying, “My ship… not far… just outside of… the city.” The doctor pulled them out of the crashed speeder and outside the city. He could see a ship, and assumed it was Nat’s ship. Pulling them both in and closing the door, the doctor sat down and passed out. Nat and the ex-nobleman also passed out from their wounds.

Nat woke up and realized that the he was lying down with the doctor tending to his wounds. The ex-nobleman was lying elsewhere, already bandaged up. Nat looked up and said “Thank you.”

“Thank you?” said the doctor, “For what, almost getting us killed?”

“I was a dead man if I had gone with them, so in a way you saved my life.”

“I guess, but I probably could have done something less reckless.”

“You think?” said the ex-nobleman.
Nat and John looked over to the human lying on the ground, not amused by the situation he’s in.
“Anyway, my name is John Smith. I am a medical doctor. As you’ve probably guessed, I’m not a fan of the empire in any way.”
“We noticed,” said the ex-nobleman, “my name is J’artan Vemilla”
Nat sat up quickly, which caused him pain, “J’artan Vernilla, as in Erithea noble family Vernilla!?”
“Yes. Most of my family is dead now though. All that remains is my sister, brother, and mother.”
“Ah, well I am an independent bounty hunter. You can call me Nat.”
Just then, they heard a noise outside, a squad of imperial troops had come to investigate the disturbance in the bar. Nat, realizing that he could not do anything else, opened up the door. Thankfully, the stormtroopers from the bar gave horrible descriptions of the three of them, so they were not arrested right away. They did question Nat though.
“Did you have anything to do with the incident at the bar today?”
“Uh… What incident?” said Nat, trying to play dumb.
“We would like to have a look inside your ship.”
Nat replied, “Sure, let me just go insider and…”
“Yes, of course.”
Nat and three stormtroopers walked inside. The stormtroopers saw John and J’artan sitting in the ship, but thankfully they paid little attention to him. After a thorough inspection, the stormtrooper then said, “You are not authorized to land your ship here. Move it immediately.”
“Yes, I will” replied Nat.
By the way, why are you all so injured.
Nat froze in his place. He knew that this would give them away. Thankfully J’artan spoke up saying, “Well, we were assisting Nat with a Bounty that he had received from the empire. The rebel scum had put up a bit of a fight and managed to land a few good shots. Our medic here was actually just finishing patching us up.”
The stormtrooper looked at J’artan momentarily, and then looked back to Nat. Thankfully, this stormtrooper was not very bright and believed the story.
The stormtroopers walked out and Nat started up his ship and flew off. When they landed in a remote area of Tatooine, the doctor said, “Even though we just met, we might want to stick with each other for a little while. We seem to be good in a fight together, and I don’t think we’ll last very long on our own. J’artan and Nat looked at each other momentarily, and agreed to this idea. They then decided to go to Mos Eisley celebrate their new partnership. On the way there, J’artan spoke up saying, “You know what. I think we used up all of our luck back there.”
Nat replied, “Yep, I sure hope we don’t have to roll any dice any time soon.”

Bar Fight in Tatooine - 5 XP
1st Session 4/17/2014

The party started off in a cantina in Tatooine, celebrating their recent partnership agreement. During the celebration, Nat’Shala noticed that there were a few Twi’lek slave dancers. Concerned, Nat approached one of the younger dancers to engage her in a conversation.

During Nat’s conversation, Content Not Found: vemillia noticed that an Aqualish bouncer was headed over to stop Nat. Always one for adventure, J’artan and John decided to intercept the bouncer. After a brief scuffle, which left J’artan on the ground, John opened fire on the offended Aqualish. The crowd quickly dispersed, leaving four bouncers and our great heroes.

The group quickly dispatched the Aqualish, but John unfortunately triggered the fire alarm, causing the bar to go into lockdown and fire suppression mode. J’artan was able to find the circuits to shut down the alarm, but the three of them could not find a way out. Giving his rebreather to the Twi’lek slave girl, Nat and the others began blasting a hole in the wall.

First to leave, J’artan stepped through the whole and spotted a squad of Stormtroopers. He stepped forward and tried to bluff his way past the Troopers, but succumbed to the vast amount of strain from the prior conflict.

And the story shall continue next week!

Tatooine Escape - 10 XP
Session 2

An exploding bike provides cover for our heroes to escape the surface of Tatooine and fall directly into the clutches of the Imperial Moff of Geonosis.

Geonosian Brawl - 15 XP
Session 3

Having spoken to the Moff, the team landed on Geonosis, split between the ideas of cooperating with the Empire in order to legally leave the planet and rejecting the bounty and attempting to flee. Nat suggested obeying the bounty hunter’s code and retrieving the mark, while J’artan and John felt nothing but antipathy for the Imperial request.

Unable to come to a consensus, J’artan and Nat went looking for Hadiss, the mark, while Dr. John stayed behind to talk to the Twi’lek slave girl. While the others were out, he was attacked by a bounty hunter named Vox, who tied him and the slave girl in razor twine and set them to bombs, hoping to lure back the other two smugglers.

Meanwhile, J’artan and Nat encountered a Geonosian patrol, who, using a battered translation droid, managed to connect them to a trade delegation who seemed interested in purchasing offworld computing technology. They bartered on the spot, but the delegates ultimately insisted on inspecting the goods on the ship.

On the way back, Nat became worried when the team wasn’t able to radio back successfully, and ran ahead. He was attacked by Vox, who tied him to his own bomb.

When J’artan and the Geonosians arrived, they found the ship converted into a house of horrors, with each crew member tied to a cluster of bombs. J’artan managed to scare Vox out of hiding, where she encountered the armed Geonosians. A battle ensued, and Vox was finally killed.

The team’s valor impressed the Geonosians, who offered more than the goods were worth. The team, sensing that they owed their lives to the trade delegates, instead offered the entire shipment for half of the asking price. Flush with goodwill, the team settled in for the night, ready to decide the next day what to do with their newfound wealth and relative freedom.

"Whatever Adventurers Do in the Dark" - 10 XP
Session 4

The heroes entered loyalist Geonosian space with the intent of hunting down Hadiss and offering their services to him against the Empire. Instead, they fell into the power of Poggle the Weak, the son of Hadiss’ life-long enemy.

They promised to the wheedling king that they would kill Hadiss, then set off into the depths beneath the hives. There, they encountered twin Gundarks, who beat the entire team into submission.

These Gundarks turned out to be guard-beasts deployed by the separatist militias dwelling under the hives. This militia was led by Jack, an old colleague of Doctor John’s, who revealed that he had been keeping the legend of Hadiss alive even though the king himself had indeed perished years before.

Despite this legendary basis, the Geonosian rebels were undermanned and underequipped, and Jack asked the party to either assist in his planned assault on a local Imperial spaceport or run the blockade to try to alert mainstream Rebel Alliance forces.

The team was initially unsure of how best to pressure the Empire, and so began the long process of debate and planning, with the goal of determining what strike would deal the deepest blow to their backstabbing former captors.

The Doctor's Log 1
Near Death Experiences

This is the log of Doctor John Smith.
After having undergone several near death experiences, I feel it necessary to construct a log of my events. I have no idea if these will actually be found by anyone, but hopefully this will help me cope with these events. Already I have had to deal with stormtroopers, a bounty hunter, and huge creature roaming inside a cave. I’m starting to wonder just why it is that I am here. Plus, all of the recent work for the empire is driving me insane. Thankfully we ran into my old colleague, Jack, from medical school. Having him around me calms me down. Plus, I may now get a chance to do something for the rebel alliance. What’s also refreshing is seeing the faces of these Geonosians that I helped. I now see why my parents always aspired to bring aid to the needy. It is tempting to leave Nat and J’artan and join the rebellion. For now, I will have to see how these next few events play out.

Despair and Triumph on Geonosis - 20 XP
Session 5

Players In Attendance: John, Dave, Adam)

The heroes, recuperating in the resistance stronghold, found themselves part of the council of war, determining how this rag-tag band of anti-Imperials could stand up to a Moff’s blockade.

They ultimately decided to undercut local support and waste Imperial resources attacking allied Geonosians. They had noticed, in Poggle the Weak’s hive, that relations between loyal Geonosians and the Imperial Moff seemed to be strained, so they decided to exploit that by staging an attack by Poggle-aligned Geonosians on an Imperial patrol.

The first step was getting back to their ship. They borrowed a landspeeder and jetted toward The Suncatcher, only to find that curious loyalist Geonosians were guarding it. They engaged in combat and liberated the ship.

After a tense reunion with the Twi’lek slave girl, who stubbornly insisted that she would not reveal her name to the group and blamed them for her misfortunes, the crew returned the ship to the resistance dock and prepared to carry out stage two.

The Twi’lek slave girl decided at this point to reveal her affection for Doctor Smith, who gently rebuffed her advances. He told her that the danger was too great for him to properly care for her, and she returned to her quarters, upset.

The eve of the battle had arrived, and the heroes followed their guide to an area where patrols were frequently seen. They lay in wait, and when a three-man patrol happened by, they seized the opportunity. A short but violent battle ended with the heroes capturing a comms pack, which they used to simulate a distress frequency. Using the positioning relay, they made it seem as if Poggle’s troops had killed the troopers and seized their goods.

This resulted in extreme retaliation from the Imperials, who sent bombers to punish Poggle’s hive. In the confusion, the resistance swarmed from the caves and took the Imperial starbase, opening a hole in the blockade which the heroes used to escape the system.

Now free, they needed a place with rebel sympathies that also had advanced medical capabilities. Thus, they turned toward J’artan’s homeworld of Erithea

The Doctor's Log 2
Fooling the Enemy

This is the log of Doctor John Smith,

We started the day going after our ship that we carelessly left behind. We ran into some trouble along the way, but we able to handle it thankfully. We got on board shortly after. Thankfully nothing had been taken. However, the slave girl was not fairing well. The situation she was in was completely our fault, I felt awful having forgotten her for the past few days. Since she has been in our care, she has lost a hand and has been terrified out of her mind. She came to me late at night after we got back to Jack’s base. She tried to come onto me, but I pushed her away, saying that I was flattered…. FLATTERED!? WHO THE HELL SAYS THAT!? I could not believe how idiotic I was that night. She slapped me and ran away. How I fell asleep that night, I will never know. Either way, the next day we managed to fool the empire and Geonosians into fighting with each other, and we can now finally leave this planet. We are heading off for Erithea. Hopefully the slave girl will warm up to us, and maybe we can get her to a safe planet. Now we have 16 days of travel, so this should be fun.

J'artan Vemilla's Notes on Erithea
Shared Log Entry
Quick update to the crew before we arrive on Erithea:

I want to give you some idea of what to expect before we get there. Keep in mind, things may have changed in the year since I’ve been off-world.

First, Erithea is a largely temperate world. A little cold for many races’ tastes, it’s a nonetheless beautiful planet, with equatorial deserts, vast tundras, and lots of forested land. Large hardwood vegetation thrives on the northern continents, and the heartwood of these tree-like plants is prized by wealthy Eritheans for its luster and durability.

Before the Moffs came, most people lived in climate-protected cities called arcologies, which also served as the points of contact for off-world guests. Most of the population is human, and minority groups of other starfaring races tend to congregate together. As a result, people think of the arcologies as having specific cultures influenced by the races that live there. Because Bothans tend to live in Hadrann Arcology, for example, people associate Hadrann with Bothan cooking, fashion and sensibility. There’s a place there that makes an ion-seared pastry that’s just amazing. I’ll take you if it’s still in business.

The major industries before the Imperial takeover were mainly biologic in nature: some low-strength bacta was cultivated there, and medical devices were manufactured through a partnership with several powerful computer-technology focused families.

Before the war, both politics and industry were based around noble houses like Vemilla. Besides the royal family, the Ridels, the Yancoras, and the Girews were comparably powerful. Of course, hundreds of lesser families struggled for power, as well.

Since the war, industry was devolved to supposedly “independent” groups that really were Imperial sympathizers. Politics fall firmly in the grasp of centralized Imperial bureaucrats.

I’m not sure exactly what will have changed when we get back there. I can get us through the streets of two or three of the major arcologies as long as things haven’t been too overbuilt. Most of all, I’m nervous because of the people we might meet there…my brother can help us, but I think he’s too involved with his friends. He might think of us more as assets and see how he can get us to help his cause. My sister lives offworld now.

But my mother is still there, in a long-term care facility in Arcology Beta. I don’t know if I want us even going there if we can avoid it.
